|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Chema’s day began with some ‘loose lead’ walking outside with a dog distraction. At first Chema was more interested in all the smells, but after a few “ah ahs” he gave full engagement to the trainer, yay! Keep up the great work and introduce some more distractions and really test his focus!!||Focus: Distraction||B+|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Next up, Chema worked on his ‘emergency drops’ outside. He initially did very well, but as the session went on he grew more and more distracted and started dropping a lot slower. Chema would still drop, but it would take him longer, which is not ideal as this skill is used in case of emergencies. The trainer then would not reward him for his slow drops, use his non-reward marker and try again. After a couple goes of this he understood and started performing properly again. Keep on working with them outside as that is where he seems to struggle the most.||Focus: Distraction||C+|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: To finish off Chema’s day he practiced his ‘skateboard’ skill. He has gotten very confident in pushing himself, so we are working on his duration on the board. He is great for a few seconds but then decides to jump off whenever he pleases. We want to teach him to remain on the board until he is released. We are doing this by catching him before he steps fully off, we will quickly say “break” when he is looking to jump off. Keep up with this at home and ensure he is only getting off when told. So proud of you today Chem-Chem.||Focus: Duration||B+|
