"I trained hard, I played hard! Please find below the skills we worked on and my results. I look forward to showing you what I learnt and working on them more with you!" If you have any questions about the skills we trained please feel free to contact todays trainer."
|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Charlie’s first session was loose lead walking. Given last time Charlie did loose lead outside the trainer took Charlie straight outside. She did well and was focused on the trainer. However, as the area being used for training was increased Charlie spotted some sheep in the distance. From that point while she could see the sheep she really struggled to maintain focus. The trainer took Charlie out of view of the sheep and her focus returned. Going forward the trainer will work with Charlie to help her avoid these distractions.||Focus: Distraction||D+|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: Charlie’s second session was place. At first Charlie did struggle but as the session progressed the trainer was able to increase the distractions slightly and Charlie worked hard to stay on place. At home keep working on this, maybe using food as the distraction.||Focus: Distraction||C+|
|Skill learnt: Conditioning||Comment: Charlie’s final session was a combination of drops and conditioning to having a leg bandaged. This helps a dog to have the skills to be handled and bandaged if needed in an emergency. It was hard work with Charlie and she did struggle. She struggled to hold her drops to have the trainer even hold her foot. The trainer moved into bandaging while Charlie was sitting and this worked slightly better. At home handle Charlie as if at the vets. Hold her paws and legs firmly so she gets used to it. If you have a bandage, practice that as well using the yes reward marker frequently||Focus: Desensitisation||X|
