Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Cez first session was loose lead walking. The trainer did this near the kennel yards and Cez was very distracted by the smells and nearby dogs. The trainer kept changing directions and using the yes marker and it didn’t take long for Cez to be walking well. As he walked better the trainer was able to expand the area being walked. Cez did want to pull in the new sections but again the trainer changed direction to help get Cez to engage. He made good progress during the session. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Second session for Cez was drop. He does very well with his drops in the classroom, although he did get distracted when someone walked in. The trainer used Uhuh and the foot brake to keep Cez in position until Cez engaged again. When Cez drops he tends to drop in front of the trainer so the trainer started walking Cez near the wall and getting Cez to drop. This did throw Cez a bit and at first would just sit. But as the session continued he started dropping straight away again. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Last up was place. The trainer decided to do this in the classroom to encourage Cez to relax more on place and not break as much. After the initial testing of the boundaries, Cez settled well. Every time Cez looked like he was going to break the trainer used the yes marker. Cez w ended the session well and held position well. Next time the trainer will increase the time spent on place to help Cez learn to relax in place. Focus: Duration C+
