Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For Bunjis first session we worked on his drop skill outside. When we first got to the grass area Bunji was super excited and was distracted by all the smells. He was pulling the trainer and wasn’t listening. Whenever he would find a distraction and pull towards it the trainer would turn away and tell him ‘uh uh’. He also didn’t drop the first few times asked in which he was told ‘uh uh’ and put into his drop. After doing a drop duration for a minutes he settled down and we were able to start working on his drops. Bunji did really well by the end and was dropping each time asked. There was one instance where a dog walked past and Bunji reacted however after he was in his drop the trainer was able to redirect his focus onto her. This was done by rewarding him with pats when he wasn’t reacting. As soon as the trainer pat him he turned to look at her and relaxed into his drop. The next step for Bunji will be to continue working on his drops around dog distractions (only noise or very low energy dogs) as he has room for improvement. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Bunjis second session we worked on his place skill outside. This skill is good as it allows Bunji to settle onto the bed around distractions (especially dog distractions). Bunji started off really well and was going to place when asked no matter the distance. However as the session went on he started to become tired and was walking to the bed and just before stepping on it would look at the trainer and stop. Therefore he was corrected and put onto the bed. As he was getting tired we worked on place duration for the last couple of minutes as he did really well and didn’t break once. The next step for Bunji will be to continue working on sending him to place from different distances with medium distractions. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Bunjis last session we worked on his sit pretty skill as he was tired so we decided to choose something less intense. Bunji did really well with his sit pretty and while at times he used the trainer arm to balance, he was able to hold it for a few seconds himself. The next step for Bunji will be to continue working on his Sit pretty trying to increase the duration he holds it for. Focus: Foundation B
