|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Buddy’s first session was loose lead walking with drops (down). The trainer took Buddy to a part of the property he hadn’t been before with lots of new smells and near farm animals. Buddy did struggle at first and would sit and drop. However using the Uhuh word and a bit of leash pressure reminded Buddy what he needed to do. As the session progressed Buddy tightened up this skill a lot. It was a little less distracting today and enabled him to concentrate better on doing the right thing.||Focus: Distraction||B|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: Next up was place. The trainer did this near the wash room where dogs were being bathed and also in sight of dogs in yards. A towel was used as place. This helped Buddy focus as it requires more work doing place in a towel. Buddy did a great job around the other dogs but could not resist when other people came by. This is something that will be worked on next time, to help Buddy resist people as he does with dogs.||Focus: Distraction||C+|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: Last up was fetch. The trainer used the trick and train for this session and a tug toy. Buddy had a great time with this session and worked hard to bring back the tug toy to enable the treat! At home use high value treats and don’t treat him until he brings the toy back. If he drops it a certain distance reward that then after a while stop until he brings it closer. This will get Buddy thinking and he work out he needs to bring the toy closer to get the reward.||Focus: Repetition||B|
