|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: For his first session today Brutus worked on his loose lead walking. As it was raining during this session we utilised the kennels with all the dog distractions. We would walk up and down the corridor, he was very excited to start with and pulled a little bit. When he did this the trainer just stopped and waited for him to fall back into position. He did this very well and would come back to a heel position to continue walking. The last 5 minutes of the session we could go outside, we walked up and down the fence line where all the sheep and alpacas were. He did very well, only throwing them the occasional glance. Keep up the good work, his loose lead is great!||Focus: Distraction||B+|
|Skill learnt: Spin||Comment: His second session today focused on his spin skill. He showed great knowledge of this so we moved into the training yard where it is secure and can do some off lead training. Here we were able to ask for a spin at a distance that’s longer than the lead. He did pretty well but was very vocal and liked to bark during the spin! He seems to love this skill and has awesome speed. Keep working on this, the more he understands the skills the greater the distance it can be asked from!||Focus: Distance||B+|
|Skill learnt: Recall||Comment: Lastly we worked on his recalls in the training yard. Again it’s fenced off and secure so we could use this to our advantage. We got him into a drop, walked to the other side and called his name + “come”. The speed at which he recalled is great, he just loves this skill and would always sit for the reward. Make sure to mark “yes” when he is at his fasted pace to you, this ensures that he always strives to be fast! Amazing work by Brutus and owners. We love to see the hard work put in!||Focus: Distance||A|
