Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: (HEEL) For her first session the trainer wanted to continue her “heel” training. Today focus was getting her to stay looking up at the trainer while she walked inside the “box”. To help her with this the trainer first got one of their retrieval toys and not only put toys in it but got her locked on to the toy by holding it out from them, every time she looked at it they rewarded her, this was repeated for the first 5 minutes of the session, once she was locked on to the toy they trainer then placed it in their under arm on their left side, this enticed her to look up more often and to keep her gaze up and on the toy as she was rewarded heavily for this, going forward we can work out phasing out the toy but for now it’s a great tool and guide for Bo to start learning this skill better. Focus: Conditioning C+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her second session today the trainer worked on her “bang bang” skill. Today they wanted to really finalise her “final” position for this skill, this is the position she will finish in once asked to do this skill! The trainer realised today that she actually has started to roll onto her back for this skill which isn’t only harder but looks much better so they made sure to shape this today. This is what the rest of the session was on with Bo just marking her rolling onto her back when asked to do bang bang and then holding this position to build duration! She smashed it easily being able to consecutively get into the right position and holding duration really well! Focus: Duration B+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her final session today the trainer worked on her place skill inside the classroom for a nice successful finish! However today wasn’t so easy! She had a big distraction challenge, the trainer attempted to drop the entire balls bucket in front of her! There is over 50 balls in this bucket! To begin with she was a little scared of the balls dropping so to better help her the trainer started off tipping the bucket out on the floor and rolling the balls towards her, she was able to deal with this so they threw some balls past her as well and she was easily able to cope with this, they then slowly raised the bucket each time they dropped the balls around her and eventually she started staying in place nice and easy as chaos rained around her! Focus: Distraction B
