Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: Bo’s first session we worked on her middles skill outside. Bo was initially quite distracted outside so we went back to basics luring her into position. After some repetition she was engaging more and requiring less of a lure. We also worked on luring her to move around whilst in middles which still needs a bit more work before we can start fading out the lure entirely. Keep this up at home to push the skill further. Focus: Back to Basics C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In Bo’s second session we worked on her drops with some RLGL to help teach her to drop in a heightened state of arousal while also doing some mock greetings to help with her manners. Bo can be quite cheeky with her drops so it is important to set clear and firm boundaries at home and if she doesn’t drop when asked, tell her uh uh and guide her into position as this is a skill she does know. When it comes to her jumping and greetings it’s important to have her on lead so you can stop her from jumping and again be consistent and set clear boundaries that this is not okay. Focus: Manners C+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Bo’s final session we worked on some trick training. This session Bo was working in her ring the bell trick. She does touch the bell with her paw but does also touch it with her nose as well, we focused on shaping the behaviour for her paw only, to do this we only rewarded when she used her paw and if she used her nose we didn’t rewarded and asked her to try again. By the end of the session she was responding to the verbal cue “bell” and touching with her paw! Focus: Conditioning B
