|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Engagement||Comment: In his first session, Blue focused on building his engagement within the classroom using engagementt games and loose lead walking. Blue was much more settled in the classroom and kennel environment today. After only a few minutes he began to take treats and build his engagement. To help his engagement improve the trainer used engagement games. This is where when he looks at the trainer a treat is thrown on the floor, the quicker he looks at the trainer the quicker a treat is released. Blue performed well his engagement improved. We suggest continuing to practise this at home.||Focus: Conditioning||B+|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: In his second session, Blue focused on further developing his drop skill within the classroom. We focused on this to build his understanding of the skill. When focused he performs well with his drops, responding to the verbal cue with a hand signal. He does struggle to hold duration, this was the focus of today's session. With some guidance from the trainer, he began to hold the drop position for longer and longer. We suggest using high-value treats such as cheese or chicken when training this skill and building his duration.||Focus: Foundation||B|
|Skill learnt: Spin||Comment: In his final session, Blue focused on learning the new skill spin within the classroom. We focused on this skill to help build engagement as well as beginning to train a recall. Blue initially struggled to follow a lure but with some patients, he began to follow a lure around in a 360-degree circle. Blue successfully followed the lure several times throughout the session.||Focus: Foundation||C+|
