Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his first session today the trainer worked on her loose lead walking skills. He seems to have really come out of his shell a lot now with us here at canine connect so the trainer was expecting a bit more out of him today and kept a strict criteria for this skill. For today that was focusing on the trainer and keeping engagement even around distractions! He was was worked around other humans today and one other dog walking around, if the trainer kept his attention with motion and some encouraging words he was great! This was great way to gain his attention for the rest of the day and he is nice and focused! Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For his second session today since he has come out of his shell the trainer wanted to start pushing some of his skills a bit more in todays classes. For his place skill today the trainer wanted to utilise the work he has been doing and worked on some sound desensitisation. As we know Bleu can be a bit skittish so working him around loud and distracting noises condition him to such things as workers doing work in the yard next door or random crashing sounds out in public on a walk. The trainer would get Bleu to not only be on place but loose lead walk with them, sit and drop all while shaking a milk bottle that was filled with rocks to simulate a loud sound. To start the trainer started at a bit of a distance and would only shake the bottle lightly. When he got use to this then trainer then would shake it more and louder while bringing it slightly closer, this was repeated until the trainer was crashing around Bleu while he was in place asking for different skills! He smashed this session and the trainer is very impressed! Focus: Desensitisation B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his last session the trainer wanted to do something fun so we could capture this happy attitude Bleu was exhibiting today and increase the chance he will continue being like this next time he comes in with us, if we create positive memories for him here he will work better and better each time he comes in! To start the trainer took him to the confidence course and let him run through this a few times, while he enjoyed this the trainer wasn’t satisfied that this would create a lasting memory so they did some work on his “Paw” trick skill! Bleu was amazing with this skill, happily and eagerly shoving his paw onto the trainers hand, foot or anything else the trainer pointed at! He finished the day on this happy note returning to accomodation with a smiling face and wagging tail! Focus: Confidence C+
