Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: In his first session, Bentley focused on further developing his leash manners and engagement around the facility. We focused on this skill to build his engagement and reduce his challenging behaviour of pulling on the lead. Bentley was initially excited to be training and struggled to walk well and show any engagement with the trainer. The trainer used a lure to help guide him to walk in the correct position, this worked well, and he began to walk nicely and show some engagement. However, he is easily distracted by the environment, people, smells, noises, cars, etc. The more practice he has with this skill the better he will become. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: In his second session, Bentley focused on further developing his skill place within the classroom. We focused on this skill to build his understanding of this place and build his impulse control. Bentley performed well, he quickly followed a lure onto the bed, he can struggle to hold duration but this is expected as he is still learning the skill. As the session progressed, he began to develop his understanding of duration. Holding good duration while the trainer began to move away from the bed (creating distance). Focus: Foundation B
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: In his final session, Bentley focused on building confidence while having some fun with the tunnel. Bentley was initially hesitant to interact with the tunnel, however with some time, patients and lots of treats he began to start walking inside. With the help of another trainer at the other end of the tunnel, he began to walk through. Once his confidence improved each time he went through the tunnel he got quicker and quicker. Focus: Confidence B+
