Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Bentley’s first session was loose lead walking. The trainer took him into the paddock first up and Bentley did a great job. Very little pulling. However the trip back out of the paddock was quick due to trying to beat the cows to the gate. The trainer then took him passed the office and to the top carpark. Bentley didn’t pull at all towards the office! On the way back to the classroom the trainer passed another dog on lead and there was another behind Bentley also. Bentley did a fantastic job and walked straight passed them. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up was around and send to place outside. Bentley didn’t do as well at this today and was very slow and reluctant to go onto the place bed. He was great at going around the cone but not so much on the place bed. The trainer did a number of repetitions on and off the bed to get Bentley working better. Then send to place but on the normal length lead. Bentley worked better at this point and ended on a win! Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Last up was drop, sits and recalls in the training yard. Bentley appears to enjoy this and it is great to see his smile and tail wagging. The trainer worked on some sit and drops as often Bentley would like to drop when he was meant to sit. Quick repetitions kept Bentley on his toes and his recalls improved as the session progressed, as he like to walk straight passes the trainer rather than sitting in front! An awesome fun session for both Bentley and trainer. Focus: Distraction A
