Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Bentley’s first session was loose lead walking and drops. Walking up to the office he does get quite a speed up, so throwing in those drops, brings his attention back and slows him down. At times Uhuh needed to be used when he was distracted by another dog or smells. But overall he did well with his drops and towards the end of the session he was slowing down as well, knowing he’d only have to drop if he didn’t! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up was send to place outside with a long line. Again he was distracted by smells. This time in the air. The trainer let Bentley sit on place for a bit so he put his nose in the air and breath it all in. Bentley was a little slower with this skill outside. The trainer was only able to go a lead length at first and even then a point and a Uhuh was needed for Bentley to go to place. But as the session progressed Bentley settled down more and was going to place from the full length of the long lead reasonably well. Next time it would be good to see him settle quick and be more consistent. Focus: Distance B
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: Last up was touch. Using the wooden spoon, Bentley started strong! The trainer was able to move the spoon to different spots near Bentley and he was able to touch each time. However, as the session progressed Bentley did lose interest. The trainer enjoyed some cuddles and took Bentley outside for short a on leash roam. Focus: Repetition C
