|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Bentley’s first session was drops near the office. At first he was not good at getting into position so the trainer did some quick repetitions to help get Bentley to focus. There were other people around and Bentley did ignore them. Halfway through the session a dog was nearby and although Bentley did look at it there was no other reaction. The trainer also practiced emergency drops with Bentley during this session and he progressed well to be dropping and staying in position while the trainer walked on.||Focus: Distraction||C+|
|Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object)||Comment: Next up was paws up. This is a skill that Bentley knows but often chooses not to do it. So the trainer pushed Bentley to start putting two paws up on one thing. As Bentley worked out that he couldn’t avoid it he started to do it more often and have fun with it. The trainer then started to get Bentley to do paws up with two front paws each in their own object. And he did it! He was happy with himself and had his smile going!!||Focus: Repetition||B+|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Last up was a walk around the paddock. Bentley was great generally but at times pulled. The trainer would either change direction or get Bentley to drop. By the end of the session and heading back to the classroom Bentley was walking well and it was a great walk back. He was leaning into the trainer and there were a couple of stops for cuddles!||Focus: Confidence||B|
