Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Bentley was great getting into the van and the trip to Hedgegrove. He was great with getting his muzzle on and off each time and on the way home the trainer left it off. His first session was building confidence around people. We did this outside and the trainer handle Bentley around a group of people. Although not entirely happy with the environment Bentley didn’t bark and walked around near a mix of men and women, most of whom he’d never met before. The trainer got Bentley going over some obstacles and he did this quite confidently and Brent was able to get closer and closer each time. At this point we ended the session on this success. Focus: Confidence X
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Next up was handling. Again outside the trainer walked Bentley around did the obstacles a few times and Brent got closer and closer. Part way through the session Brent took the lead. Brent walked Bentley away from his regular trainer. Bentley was able to be walked between all the people with Brent handling him. Bentley even enjoyed a pat or two with Brent. Bentley was still looking for the way home but it was good to see him allow Brent to take him. Bentley didn’t bark at all during these sessions. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Lastly was just time to allow Bentley to learn to settle in new environment. In between sessions he spent the time in the kennels. He was fantastic. Bentley was of course uncomfortable throughout the day but he did handle it well. He still continually looked for his way home and when loading the van he couldn’t get in quick enough. When back at Windamere he just about pulled the trainer’s arm off to get back to the training yards. Apologies for the lack of photos. I think videos were taken by others but if there are more photos I will send them through. Focus: Desensitisation X
