|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Around/ Barrel Racing||Comment: Bentleys first session we worked on sending him to place and also his around skill. He was very distracted during this session as there were people working on the pathway just outside the classroom. We were still able to get some great progress from him but his engagement wasn’t as good as usual. He has good knowledge of both these skills so we focused mainly on repetition and increasing speed.||Focus: Repetition||B+|
|Skill learnt: Middle Position||Comment: For Bentleys second session today we worked on middles. This skill requires them to go between the trainers legs, sit and look up at the trainer. To start teaching this we started with him in a drop and then released him while luring him through with a treat. He was a bit unsure to start with but we were able to get him to walk through a few times! This is great to help him build confidence around the trainers in close proximity. As he learns this skill and gets more comfortable with it, we can slow him down before he walks right through and get him to sit before releasing him.||Focus: Foundation||C+|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: For his last session today Bentley worked on his loose lead and drops outside. He seemed quite distracted again and was lacking engagement. In saying this he didn’t pull on the lead at all and would listen every time we asked for a drop! We walked up and down the carpark, in the grass training area, partway up the fire track and back to the classroom! He did really well to stay by the trainers side, the only thing he barked at was John as we walked past. When this happed we asked for a drop and let him take in the environment at a good distance.||Focus: Distraction||B|
