Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Bentley’s first session was loose lead walking in the paddock. He did a great job until it was time to head back to the classroom. He pulled! The trainer kept changing direction and also using drop to slow Bentley down. This did work but was very slow going. The looks he gave the trainer were quite funny. The trainer persisted and he started to slow towards the end. Next time it would be good to see Bentley not pull as much. He hasn’t pulled like that for a while, so the drops really did slow him down! Focus: Distraction C
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up was send to place and around. At first he was reluctant to go to place and did step off a number o number of times. As the session progressed Bentley settled better into the skill and was going to place from a distance. The trainer then got Bentley going from place to place. The trainer got Bentley to do a couple of a rounds but if Bentley was heading towards the door he didn’t want to then turn back around. After a number of tires the trainer took Bentley back to send to place and he completed the session well doing this. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Last up the trainer made a little obstacle course for Bentley. It consisted of going through a hoop as well as paws up on some different items. Once Bentley was confident tackling those skills individually the trainer got Bentley to go through all the skills in a row and he did a great job! It really showed in his face the fun he had and the sense of achievement he got out of the success of the skills! Great work Mr Bentley. Focus: Repetition B+
