Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: Bentley’s first session was the confidence course. He does still need the trainer to run around with him and if the trainer is to slow then Bentley will stop until the trainer catches up! The trainer also did some drop durations in the training yard. The first couple he broke position but soon settled and did well with that exercise! Focus: Repetition X
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Next up for Bentley was touch. The session started well and using the word touch Bentley did achieve a number of repetitions of touch with the target stick. The trainer then changed to the bell and Bentley only did a couple of touches and the trainer went back to the target stick by this time Bentley was done!! The trainer did place for the remainder of the session with send to place. Instead of popping him out in the yard the trainer left him on place and used him as dog distraction for training other dogs. He was awesome and didn’t react at all and stayed happily on place. Thanks for your help Bentley to train other dogs!! Focus: Repetition C
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Final session for Bentley was drops and sits in place ma that he just wants to keep walking! The trainer took him for a walk to the bottom car park. As he headed up the hill Bentley started pulling. The trainer did quite a number of drops and sits until getting to the top car park. Bentley struggled to get into the requested positions and needed the Uhuh word a number of times. He was also quite vocal about his reluctance to do it! As he got closer to the top he did do better and the trainer finished the session with drops and sits in the top car park and near the lane way. Bentley did settle but it is something the trainer will do again to help Bentley learn that he has to listen regardless of what he would like to do. Focus: Repetition C+
