Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Bella’s first session was loose lead walking. The trainer took her up to near the yards where a dog was running and barking near the training. It did take Bella a little settle but she did progress well and started to focus more on the trainer than the other dog. As the trainer got closer Bella did pull a few times, so the trainer took it back and increased the distance. The trainer will focus on this again for Bella’s last session. Focus: Distraction D+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Drops around the yards was the focus of the second session for Bella. Again the trainer needed to ensure the distance was enough that Bella wasn’t wanting to lunge. Bella did need quite a bit of distance and took a while to settle and regain engagement. Next time it would be good to be able to decrease the distance from the dog distraction. Focus: Distraction C
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For Bella’s last session the trainer did loose lead walking with her again in the same place. She still struggled a little which the distraction was made worse by staff going into the other dogs yard. The trainer then stood with Bella conditioning her with the yes marker while the bigger distractions were happening. Although Bella needs more work with this she did really well and the last session was much better than the first. Focus: Distraction C
