Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: First session Beani worked on place. He was much more engaged today and taking his treats. He still needs a hand signal and occasionally a treat lure but is following the verbal cue better. Today we focused on his duration around lower energy trainer movements and his engagement while other dogs were nearby. Beani is progressing well, he can still break early a handful of times but we are able to direct him back to the bed by saying uh uh and guiding him back to the bed. Keep working on this at home to build his settling skills. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Beanis second session we worked on his drop skill. Beani knows this skill but still needs a hand signal to get into position and prefers to put himself into a sit before sliding down into the drop position. Today we worked on lots of repetition to start fading out that hand signal, he is showing progress but when there are more distractions around he still needs a clear hand signal. When in the drop his duration is good around lower distractions. Keep building on this at home. He did have a few awoos towards another dog while in the crate at the end of this session he is beginning to get a bit more vocal towards other dogs and we are able to redirect it by scattering treats on the floor. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: Final session Beani worked on Paws Up. This skill is great for confidence building and using out and about on walks and in different environments. Beani was unsure of the round pod so we tried a rectangular step and he liked this. We were able to lure him up to put his front paws up by the end of the session. He was still a bit tentative but was showing more confidence by the end of the session. Focus: Confidence B
