Barney was very overexcited today and really struggled to focus on and listen to the trainer. Practice going over his basics often at home to get him back to his usual level.
It was a PLEASURE training with your pooch today and we look forward to continuing to help you achieve your goals, skills and improve your relationship.
Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!
"I trained hard, I played hard! Please find below the skills we worked on and my results. I look forward to showing you what I learnt and working on them more with you!" If you have any questions about the skills we trained please feel free to contact todays trainer."
|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Barney was very excitable moving from the kennels and had very poor leash manners. So we started him off with loose lead in the classroom. Barney took a good 5 minutes before he stopped pulling on the lead and trying to wander off. Even after he had settled into the loose lead he did get easily distracted (he pulled and jumped around when another staff member entered the room). With no distractions he was quite good but is back to getting easily distracted. Next time we'd like to see Barney less distracted so that he can focus on his obedience and manners better. At home work on rewarding Barney often for good focus and engagement.||Focus: Distraction||C+|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: For his second session we worked on place outside for Barney. Barney was still very energetic and struggled to listen and focus on the trainer. He did go to place but would run full pelt onto it (sometimes so fast he would stumble off the other side). Getting him to settle and re-engage was quite difficult but he didn't pay much attention to the high vis/hard hat distractions outside. Next time we'd like Barney to be more engaged so that we can get his basics back to his usual good level. At home continue using place a lot to help teach Barney how to settle.||Focus: Distraction||C+|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: For his last session we worked on Barney's drop skill to help him settle as he was still in crazy puppy mode. He really struggled with his duration and would often pop up quite quickly after going into drop. By the end of the session he had improved but this does need more work. Next time we'd like to see better duration from Barney in his drops so that we can push his distractions. At home work on duration for his drops.||Focus: Duration||C|
