Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Baloo began his day working on his ‘ring toss’ trick, focusing on getting him to hold the ring long enough to walk with it and drop it near the stand. Baloo did really well! His duration has gotten so much better, which helps us lots, so all we need to really focus on is getting him to move toward the stand, which he did nicely today! There were times where Baloo would get a bit talkative if he did not receive a treat, as the trainer was only rewarding him if he dropped the ring close to the stand. Keep practicing this at home, use his non-reward marker where needed. He knows what he needs to do, he is just a bit cheeky! Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Next up, Baloo worked on his ‘bang’ trick, focusing on getting him to perform with just the hand motion and he SMASHED it!! Baloo has gotten so good with this trick, awesome work! At first, the trainer had to use a lure to get him on his side, but after quite a few reps and fading the lure, Baloo picked it up quick and fell to his side with just the finger gun, so cute and so good! He got a bit vocal again, but still did as asked. Keep up the great work and feel free to pair the hand signal with a verbal cue of your choice, some examples are; bang, play dead, pew, etc. and let us know! So proud, Baloo! Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: To finish off, Baloo learnt a new trick; ‘bubbles’. He did really well! The trick of bubbles begins by throwing a treat into a bowl (or this case a shell pool) of water, so when your doggo goes for it, they blow bubbles in the process. Once the trainer saw bubbles, they would say “yes” and reward Baloo. As the session went on, Baloo somehow managed to retrieve the treat without blowing bubbles. The trainer then held the treat under water and Baloo was back to blowing bubbles. Keep practicing this at home, hold the treat for now and then drop a treat in and see if he is sneaky or if he does blow bubbles still. Let us know how you go. Great work today, Baloo! Focus: Foundation B
