Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!
"I trained hard, I played hard! Please find below the skills we worked on and my results. I look forward to showing you what I learnt and working on them more with you!" If you have any questions about the skills we trained please feel free to contact todays trainer."
|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: For Baloo’s first session we worked on his loose lead outside. This skill is important as it allows for nice walking without any pulling or zigzagging. Baloo started off distracted by the noises of the other dogs but quickly turned his focus onto the trainer after the use of ‘Uh uh’ when he pulled and rewards when he made eye contact with the trainer. Baloo struggled more on the grass than the concrete area as well as when walking towards the grass he would sometimes lose focus. Therefore, the next step for Baloo will be to continue his loose lead walking around/on grass areas.||Focus: Distraction||B+|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: For Baloo’s second session we worked his drop skill. This is important as it can help teach them impulse control. For this session Baloo was asked to drop and expected to remain in his drop until his name was completely spelt out with treats. To begin with Baloo struggled a bit and was crawling forward towards the treat every now and then. When he did the trainer told him ‘uh uh’ and put him back into the spot he was asked to drop in. After a few uses of ‘Uh uh’ Baloo stopped crawling towards the food and was able to remain in a stationary drop while the trainer spelt his name out with treats. The next step for Baloo will be to continue testing his drop around food.||Focus: Distraction||B|
|Skill learnt: Middle Position||Comment: For Baloo’s last session we worked on his middle’s skill. This skill is good as it teaches them to focus. Baloo did really well in progressing throughout the session. To begin with the trainer was asking for middles at a straight angle. By the end of the session the trainer was able to stand sideways to Baloo and he was walking around and performing middles majority of the time. There were a few occasions where Baloo would sit in front of the trainer however a lure was then used to correct him into the right position. The next step for Baloo will be to continue working on the side angle.||Focus: Repetition||B+|
