Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Bailey’s first session was loose leads walking. He was very distracted outside coming from the kennels. The trainer walked him to the bottom car park and then worked in a small area to help Bailey engage. As the session progressed it did improve but the trainer could still only work in that small area, changing direction whenever Bailey pulled. At home practice in low distracting environments and as Bailey improves up the distractions a little. Don’t increase to much or you will be back to square one. Small continual successes will work well. Focus: Distraction C
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up for Bailey was place outside with dog distractions and all the smells on the grass. Bailey struggled to hold place to start with and was distracted by the other dogs. The trainer used an increase of yes marker to help Bailey focus and remember what he needed to do. As the session progressed Bailey did engage more and started to work better. At home move place around so that Bailey gets used to different distractions. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Last up for Bailey was drops and again he struggled. He wasn’t wanted to go into position or stay there one in position. The trainer took it back a step and did a few repetitions and then started working on duration again with Bailey. The trainer wasn’t able to move far without Bailey breaking. Next time it would be good to work further on Bailey’s duration with drop. Focus: Duration C
