Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Muzzle Conditioning Comment: First session Aslan worked on his muzzle conditioning. Today we spent a few minutes getting him used to putting his nose in the muzzle before actually clipping it up then moving onto vet holds. Aslan did well in this session allowing his trainer to check his eyes and ears and run their hands down their legs. He wasn’t a fan of having his feet touched but only wiggled them away. We had the muzzle on for most of the session with short breaks of it off and a cuddle before repeating, he also didn’t try to paw the muzzle off at all this session. Great work! Focus: Conditioning B
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: Aslans second session we worked on his middles. After being a little cheeky to start and needing to go right back to basics to encourage him to go between the trainers legs he began to follow the verbal with only a slight lure to help guide him. We focused on his duration in the position as he can be quick to wiggle out of the position before his release word. He is picking this up well. Keep working on this at home and begin fading out the lure to just a hand signal when he is showing more reliability. Focus: Duration C+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Aslans final session we worked on his skateboard. Today Aslan was a bit reluctant to do anything but stand on the skateboard, even with luring he wasn’t interested in trying to push himself along and if it moved slightly he was quick to jump off. To end the session on a positive we went out and checked out our confidence course for the last couple of minutes where Aslan happily jumped over the a frame but was more interested in sniffing around the gate to get to his trainer than go through the other obstacles Focus: Back to Basics C+
