Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Arya began her day practicing some ‘loose lead’ walking outside with a dog distraction. She did pretty well! Arya showed no signs of reactivity until the other dog was maybe 5 metres or so from her. Remember Arya’s critical distance and maintain it as best you can. Once she was brought back to her critical distance, she had laser focus on the trainer and it was awesome. Keep up the amazing work with her at home! Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up, Arya continued to work on her ‘place training’ around plenty of dog and trainer distractions. Arya did fantastic! As place is a skill known for her to relax on, she was not phased by the other dogs being around and went to and from place just as she was asked. Keep up the training with this skill so it remains solid, she is doing really well with it and helps her to not show as much reactivity. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: To finish her day, Arya worked on a new skill, ‘paws up’. Arya showed no prior knowledge to this skill so the trainer took advantage of it to help build some confidence. She did pretty well! At first she was hesitant, but with the use of yummy treats she followed the lure on, slowly, but steadily. After a few repetitions she was gaining more confidence to get on a bit quicker and staying with her 2 front paws on for a second longer each time. Keep pushing her with this skill at home and utilise house hold items like pots and pans to challenge her and watch her confidence grow with time! Focus: Confidence B
