Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Arnie’s first session today was all about his loose lead walking. We started in the classroom to help him focus and then made our way outside. Arnie did fairly well outside, he did pull in front a little bit but responded well to a change in direction. He also had great engagement with the trainer, he would check in with us frequently. Although he did well there weren’t many people or dog distractions around to really test him. It’s important to keep practicing this in low distracting environments to help him learn the skill and then start to introduce distractions. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Crate Training Comment: Arnie’s second session today was all about conditioning him to the crate. He was super hesitant to go in a crate so we worked on building his confidence around it and using treats to lure him in. We opened both doors of the crate so once he was in he could walk out the other side. Doing this helps him learn that the crate isn’t so scary. It took the whole session to get him in the crate but once we did he was fine and took treats the entire time! Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Arnie’s last session today was focused on his drops and place skill. There was another dog and trainer working in the classroom so we used this as a distraction. Arnie did really well with his place skill, he only stepped off a couple times before being released. He struggled a little bit with drop durations so we made sure to only do it long enough that he didn’t break position. Keep pushing his drop and place skill with trainer/handler movement. Focus: Distraction B

We recommend your next step should be…
