Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: To start Arlo's training we focused on a red light, green light game with drop. When over excited Arlo can ignore commands and display unwanted behaviour so we revved him up and at random asked him to drop. The trainer noticed that Arlo was VERY good at this but when she stopped rewarding him he stopped listening. To help with this the trainer started fading the rewards out (every 2-3 times he'd get a treat). This was also performed outside in the shade with a shell pool nearby that Arlo loved to cool down in. Great work Arlo, you did really well! Focus: Manners B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: With lots of dogs in training outside we focused on loose lead, aiming to encourage him to ignore them. He was very good with this, even with a very energetic dog nearby. As the session continued Arlo was getting tired therefore they changed to 'BANG' which was a little easier for him in this heat. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: By the third session Arlo was POOPED! So the trainer did some easy trick training and introduced Arlo to Doga (yoga for dogs). The first step is the get the mat ready so the trainer hid treats within the yoga mat and encouraged him to roll it open. It took him a while to work this trick out but by the end of the session we were reducing the amounts of treats hidden. SUPER CUTE! Focus: Foundation C-
