Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Again Arlo’s first session was walk behind and it was great to see Arlo doing well with this and no longer jumping during this session. The trainer did work a little with Arlo away from the narrow alley and he did well with this but more work needs to be done on this in open spaces. It is great to see Arlo settle quicker and work well. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Next up for Arlo was drops. The trainer took Arlo to the grassed training area and Arlo did struggle at first. The livestock smells were too much for him at first and it was hard work to get him to focus. As the session got close to ending Arlo did start to engage with the trainer more. His duration was great at this point, and the trainer was able to walk around Arlo without him breaking position. Next time trainers will work more in this environment to further help Arlo resist the smelly distractions. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Final session for Arlo was place. Arlo did a great job in this session, but did struggle to totally relax on place for a longer period of time. The trainer used distractions like blowing bubbles and although Arlo broke place a few times, overall he did a good job. Towards the end of the session the trainer got Arlo to stay on place for a few minutes and Arlo was a little restless with this but he did in the end lie down, which was great to see. Focus: Distraction B
