|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: Training took place outside today for all of Arlo's sessions. The first session focused on improving Arlo's focus and engagement with the skill 'around'. This skill involves him being on place with a cone 1 metre ahead. The trainer points to the cone with the cue 'around' and he is required to walk around the cone and back to place where he is rewarded. Arlo really struggled to perform this skill outside therefore the trainer revisited the basics and started luring. He quickly recovered and was performing very well. They further challenged him with dog distractions on the other end of the cone (dog performing loose lead). This was a real challenge for Arlo as he lost focus of the task as well as engagement with the trainer. We look forward to further developing this.||Focus: Distraction||B|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: The trainer has decided to teach Arlo a new trick called 'toys away'. This involves him packing up his toys on cue (putting them in a designated basket). This session was focused on getting him to hold the toys in his mouth and walk around with them (easier said that done). This was tricky for Arlo as he was reluctant to hold the toy in his mouth in case he missed an opportunity for the rewards. With the use of play and rewarding through cuddles and more play, he eventually started to hold the toy longer.||Focus: Duration||B|
|Skill learnt: Leave||Comment: Arlo was exhausted this session so the trainer focused on a low physical skill. They further worked on Arlo's 'leave it' skill in hopes to save his mums thongs. Arlo responded very well to the cue with food and toys and was able to be changed by the trainer dropping food in front of him and also along his paw.||Focus: Manners||A|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: Between the first session Arlo was relaxing on place outside with other dogs training around him. The trainer was VERY impressed as a bird had come right near him to grab a piece of dropped kibble and he did not break!!||Focus: Duration||A+|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Between the second session Arlo was relaxing in a drop and soaking up the rays. He fell asleep during this session even with all the dogs training around him.||Focus: Duration||A+|
