Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Muzzle Conditioning Comment: For Belles first session we worked on some muzzle conditioning. This is useful as it allows Belle to feel more comfortable wearing her muzzle. To begin with the trainer had treats at the back of the muzzle to get her to put her mouth in. After a few repetitions Belle was expected to put her mouth into the muzzle without a lure. When she did, she was told ‘yes’ and rewarded. While Belles was fine with putting her mouth into the muzzle, when the strap was lifted, she would often pull her head out. Therefore, we started to work on getting her to put her head in while holding the strap up. Belle was a bit more hesitant with this but at times would still do it. The next step for Belle will be to continue getting her to put her head into the muzzle while the strap is lifted. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For Belles second session we conditioned her to a new trainer and the outside environment. Belles did really well and had lots of fun sniffing everything she could. She even came up to the trainer for pats every now and then. One thing that Belle needs to improve on is getting her to stop rubbing the muzzle up against objects. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For Belles last session we again worked on conditioning her to the outside environment and a new trainer. At times the trainer was even able to get Belles to sit for a treat. She did so well today and was able to get more comfortable around a new trainer. Focus: Conditioning X
