Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Angus’s first session was drop in the classroom with another dog training. He was quite distracted to start with but as he is very food motivated he soon started to focus on the treat giver. Aka the trainer! The trainer worked in Angus holding the drop position longer and as the session progressed he did improve this part of the skill. Angus is also slow to get in the drop position so for the last couple of the minutes the trainer focused on quick repetitions of the skill. This is something that will need to be work on further. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Next up for Angus was loose lead walking and he really struggled with this. He is a strong dog, therefore loose lead walking with no pulling is going to be quite important. Angus was very distracted so the trainer played an engagement games to help build focus with Angus. This did help and his walking improved slightly. But again this is a skill that needs some work going forward. Focus: Distraction D+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Place outside was Angus last session. This was done in sight of a dog running around in the training yard and was a massive distraction for Angus. He did pull and get off the place bed a couple of times but towards the end he was engaged much better. It wasn’t a perfect session but given the distractions Angus did a great job. Focus: Repetition C+
