Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Door Manners Comment: Amora did a great job with her first session. The trainer took her through the kennels stopping at all entry ways. Initially Amora was pulling quite a bit but she settled really quickly which was great to see. Along the way Amora had to sit calmly as staff walked passed. She did struggle and broke a couple of times but overall she worked hard to stay out where needed! Her door manners were great too. It was funny that Amora did lean against the office door as she sat. The trainer couldn’t get it open! Was a great session. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Next up was drop coupled with greetings again. This time the greetings were more planned. With Amora in drop the trainer kept distance between Amora and the other person. The trainer got the other person slowly step forward. Only coming closer when Amora was clam. The trainer used treats to keep Amora’s focus and the person was able to come close and pat Amora while she remained in a drop. Amora did well! Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Ring a Bell Comment: Ring the bell was the last session for Amora. At the start of the session Amora was not interested in the bell and actually decided to do paws up on a seat in the classroom! The trainer directed Amora’s attention back to the bell. She did start to hit the bell with her mouth but Amora’s default is still with her paw! Some more time working on this will help Amora figure out what is required of her. Focus: Repetition C
