Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Amora’s first session was loose lead walking with dog distractions as well as door and gate manners. Amora was challenged by the dog running around nearby and had trouble focusing. However adding in a few drops and sits soon had her attention back. From there it was a walk through the kennels and while navigating the gates well Amora then started pulling through the kennels. The trainer changed direction and used the Uhuh word and Amora settle again. She was great around the doors. Although once told break was inclined to take off again. Using the drop command or the trainer going through the door first helped with this. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Next up was to teach Amora to hold something. In this case the trainer used a rubber ring. The session consisted of helping Amora make the connection with touching the ring and treats. By the end of the session she was starting to work it out. As such going forward it will be good to further reinforce that behaviour to then be able to ask for a different one like biting the ring. Focus: Repetition C
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Last up was drops in the kennel. Amora at times gets excited in the kennels so helping her with that will work towards controlling the excitement in certain situations. Using drop is a great way for Amora to refocus on the trainer. As the trainer worked with Amora, Amora’s drops were swinging around in front of the trainer. The trainer used the walls to help Amora position her drops better. Amora also got some more door/gate training in during this session. Focus: Distraction C+
