|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: Amora’s first session was place in the kennels. Amora didn’t like the raised bed in the kennel so the trainer swapped it out for a mat bed. Amora was much better with this. The trainer used a few quick repetitions to get Amora on and off the ‘new’ bed. She did a great job. The trainer also worked on some gate manners as Amora was quite pushy to start with. By the end of the session Amora was able to stay sitting while the gate was opened.||Focus: Distraction||B|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Next up was drop around new people. The trainer did this in the kennels as well to help Amora get used to the kennels. The trainer stalked all the staff and although Amora was wanting pull and then break drop when coming upon people by the end of the session she was holding drop much better. As staff disappeared from the kennel the trainer continued with some loose lead walking in the kennels. She did but did want to pull towards some dogs in nearby yards. As staff at times came through Amora struggled to get into a drop, but her excitement level wasn’t as high. Create distance when greeting people to enable Amora to be calm. As she gets better you will be able to close the distance.||Focus: Distraction||B|
|Skill learnt: Conditioning||Comment: For Amora’s third session the trainer again took Amora through the kennels. Which was helping Amora remain calm in new environments. She was quite excited to go into the kitchen and pulled. She struggled to hold a drop at first but Amora progressed well. From the kitchen it was through the hallway into the office. Again Amora pulled and tried opening all the doors herself. The trainer took Amora back towards the kitchen and asked for a drop. Then progressed slowly to the office. Asking Amora to drop whenever she pulled. By the time she made it to the office Amora was working well and able to hold a sit when the door opened! Amora did a great job and settled well in the kennel between sessions. It was fantastic conditioning for her upcoming stay.||Focus: Conditioning||B+|
