About our presenter

Scott McGuinness brings a wealth of hands-on experience and formal qualifications to this workshop. He is fully qualified in Dog Behaviour & Training, Work, Health & Safety, and Training & Assessment.

Scott’s professional journey began after an eclectic early career in fields like graphic design, the oil industry, gaming, and hospitality. His true calling emerged when he took on a supervisory role at one of Adelaide’s first and largest dog daycare facilities. He is now Director and Founder of Canine Connect, as well as Managing Director of Hedgegrove and Windamere Pet Retreats.

Beyond his professional life, Scott is a dedicated dog guardian to five unique canines—including two Pomeranians, a Husky, a deaf Border Collie, and Jussi the Tibetan Mastiff—highlighting his hands-on compassion and experience with diverse behavioural profiles.

Adding a fresh and personal dimension to his teaching, Scott is now a new father. This new chapter in his life enriches his approach to canine safety training—especially around integrating dogs into evolving family dynamics, preparing homes for babies and children, and fostering secure, confidence-building environments for all members of the household.
