Canine Connect is excited to bring Dr Michelle Rassool to Adelaide to host her A-Z of Anxiety Workshop.
Dr. Michelle’s newest seminar focuses on everything you need to know about the most common mental health condition affecting dogs – anxiety. Starting with the nervous system, we’ll explore how the brain works, how anxiety can occur neurologically, and what effects it can have on mind, body and behaviour.
Some of what is covered:
- Origins of anxiety, and why you need to understand it.
- The nervous system, including how memory works
- Medications and their role
- Repetitive disorders
- Separation disorders
- Noise aversions + phobias
- Case studies
When:
Saturday 9th August
9am-4pm
Cost:
$200 per person
Where:
The Mawson Centre
2-8 Main Street, Mawson Lakes
As a veterinarian with extensive training experience, Dr. Michelle will discuss some of the causes of anxiety disorders, as well as potential management and treatment options. There will be an exploration of some of the current scientific information surrounding these conditions, as well as the crucial role of the trainer in changing behaviour for dogs with mental health challenges. You’ll learn to identify signs that behavioural modification is being hampered by the neural system in overdrive, as well as signs that a medication plan could be helpful. We’ll cover real-life case studies of things that have gone well, as well as the reality of cases that have been tough to manage.
